Glossary
Every term and acronym used across this primer is defined here. Use this as a standalone reference, not something to read from start to finish once. Note that this is not an exhaustive list of terms in the various industries in which Arridex operates.
AnomalyAsset integrity
A detected deviation from an asset's expected condition, found during inspection, such as corrosion, a crack, or material loss. Anomalies are classified by damage type and severity, and tracked until they are resolved. See NDT and anomalies.
Additive Manufacturing (AM)Manufacturing
The process of building physical parts by adding material layer by layer, commonly known as 3D printing when discussed informally. See AM fundamentals.
AssetAsset integrity
A physical piece of infrastructure or equipment that an operator owns and must maintain over its working life, such as a pressure vessel, a pipeline, or a vessel hull. See What is an asset.
Certificate of Conformity (CoC)Manufacturing
A document certifying that a manufactured part meets its specified requirements. In ADAM OS, a CoC is generated per unit produced, tied to that unit's traceability record.
FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel)Oil & gas
A large floating vessel that processes and stores oil or gas produced from nearby wells, then offloads it to tankers. One of the largest and most complex asset types Velidon supports inspection for. See Equipment and structures.
FSO (Floating Storage and Offloading vessel)Oil & gas
Similar to an FPSO, but storage-only, it does not process oil or gas on board, only stores and offloads it. See Equipment and structures.
Hub-and-spoke modelADAM OS
ADAM OS's architecture for coordinating multiple manufacturing locations: a central hub node and multiple spoke nodes of different types, each with a defined role. See ADAM OS.
IOC (International Oil Company)Oil & gas
A large, typically multinational oil and gas operator. IOCs are the primary customer profile for Velidon's SaaS version, and they apply strict IT security and vendor vetting standards before adopting third-party software.
ISO 27001Compliance
An international standard for information security management systems. Arridex is pursuing certification at the holding company level. See Compliance Roadmap.
MES (Manufacturing Execution System)Manufacturing
Software that manages and tracks production on a factory floor, from job intake through to a finished, traceable part. ADAM OS is Arridex's MES for the Omnifactory.
NDT (Non-Destructive Testing)Asset integrity
A family of inspection techniques used to assess the condition of an asset without damaging or dismantling it. See NDT and anomalies.
P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram)Asset integrity
A detailed engineering diagram showing the piping, equipment, and instrumentation of a process system. Inspection reports reference P&IDs to show exactly where on an asset an anomaly was found.
Pressure vesselAsset integrity
A sealed container designed to hold gases or liquids at a pressure different from ambient pressure. A common and high-risk asset type, since failure can be sudden and severe. See Equipment and structures.
RBI (Risk-Based Inspection)Asset integrity
A methodology for prioritising inspection effort based on the likelihood and consequence of failure, rather than inspecting everything on a fixed calendar schedule. See Risk-based inspection.
SOC2 (System and Organization Controls 2)Compliance
An audit standard assessing how a service organisation manages customer data, focused on security, availability, and related trust criteria. Velidon is pursuing SOC2 specifically, since it is the customer-facing SaaS product. See Compliance Roadmap.
Tank farmAsset integrity
A site containing multiple large storage tanks for oil, gas, or refined products. See Equipment and structures.
TML / TML trending (Thickness Measurement Location)Asset integrity
A fixed point on an asset where wall thickness is repeatedly measured over time, allowing corrosion or erosion rates to be tracked. TML trending is an upcoming Velidon capability.
Vessel hullMaritime
The main structural body of a ship, the primary barrier between the vessel's interior and the sea. Hull integrity is a core inspection concern in maritime asset integrity work. See Equipment and structures.
